We have a variety of tasks since this year’s book giveaway will be an in-person event at STC’s Sarasota campus. Festivities will take place both inside and outside. Responsibilities range from handing books to children to working the check-in table to being a door greeter. Help with set up and tear down is also welcome (and appreciated J). Community service hours will be given to any high school volunteers.
Storybook Street is an imagination destination where young children, ages 1 to 7, watch a book come to life right in front of their eyes and then receive a copy of that very book. While the ELC provides the books, our local arts agencies provide the talent.
This year we are collaborating with:
Sarasota Ballet
Van Wezel Performing Arts
The Players Centre
Florida Studio Theatre
Ringling Museum ROAR Program
Music Compound
Sarasota Orchestra
Venice Symphony
Asolo Repertory Theatre
CreArte Latino
Ringling College of Art and Design
Circus Arts Conservatory
Venice Theatre
Irish Dance Academy of Sarasota
Sarasota County Libraries
At this point, with one book per family at each booth, every family will walk away with 15 new books. We’re working on additional funders to get that number a little higher. Stay tuned!
We expect 400+ families to attend.
Thanks in advance for your consideration. Together, let’s build strong home libraries for our youngest generation.
Warmest regards,
Ana
