Like almost every Kiwanis Club, we've supported "Project Eliminate."  This update was recently received from Poly Lat, of the Philip[pines.  He is the 2017-2018 Kiwanis International President-Elect.

Mr. Lat writes:  "The Philippines represents the third country to eliminate MNT in 2017, following Ethiopia and Haiti, and the 24th country to achieve elimination.

Eliminating MNT in the Philippines was not an easy one. In 2015, 16 of the 17 regions of the Philippines had been validated for MNT elimination. However, health workers faced challenges reaching many communities in the last remaining region, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, as many are geographically isolated or affected by conflict. Despite the obstacles, mothers and babies in the Philippines are now protected from this terrible disease.

Your support makes accomplishments like this possible. Only 15 countries remain affected by MNT. In addition, through The Eliminate Project, we will continue to support their efforts until this deadly disease is no longer a threat."

Our Club's contribution to Project Eliminate was part of KI's world wide effort.  We, like all Kiwanis Clubs take pride in the result - saving the lives of thousands of newborns and their mothers world wide.  More information on MNT progress can be found HERE.
