Hermitage Artist Retreat

The Hermitage provides 3- to 6-week multidisciplinary residencies for mid-career artists. It is located on 8.5 acres of beach on Florida's Gulf Coast, and has been created out of 5 restored historic buildings restored into living space and studio space for its artists. All Hermitage residencies are curated.

The Hermitage sits on Manasota Key, a barrier island across Lemon Bay from Englewood, Florida..

  • Residency Length: 3-6 weeks

  • Number of artists accepted in most recent year: 30
  • Open to US artists and non-US artists
  • Two competitive residencies are available annually to Sarasota County artists only - one to a visual artist and the other to a writer or composer. These are available through the Sarasota County Arts Council.
